About melonfleet
melonfleet is a hobby — a small workshop for building friendly, self-hosted tools for the kinds of fleets IT people spend their days wrangling.
The short version
By day, the person behind melonfleet is a systems engineer who keeps fleets of Macs running — and the occasional stubborn printer. By night, melonfleet is where the same problems get re-approached for fun: what would these tools look like if you built them from scratch, kept them self-hosted, and owed nothing to any vendor?
Built with AI, on purpose
Every melonfleet tool is designed and written hand-in-hand with an AI assistant. That's half the point — it's an ongoing experiment in how far one curious person and a capable pair-programmer can get. The architecture, the code, the branding, even this page: all worked out in conversation.
The ethos
Self-hosted first. Independent. No lock-in, free defaults, and tools you run on hardware you actually own. Nothing here phones home to a cloud you didn't choose. It's software built the way a home cook builds a garden — for the pleasure of it, and because the shop-bought version wasn't quite right.
Nothing serious
melonfleet isn't a company and nothing here is for sale. It's a playground. If a tool turns out to be useful to you too — wonderful, that's a bonus. And maybe, one day, it becomes something the whole family tinkers on together. For now, it's just for the joy of making things. 🍉
